HTML5 is not the solution to Mobile Video Fragmentation
In an opening day keynote to the Streaming Media East conference in New York City, Matt Frost, senior business product manager for Google Chrome, talked about the past and the possible future of online video.
He addressed the lack of a standard as one issue, as well as the possibility to encode once for all destinations. The fragmentation of the mobile video market is a big problem for content creators as well as content distributors.
HMTL5 by itself will not solve this fragmentation problem and, as is, still needs a lot of improving. HMTL5 however, is a step towards the right direction. Frost also stated: "Web video can be so much better.” He is right. What's needed is a solution that lets content owners encode once for all destinations. All transcoding should happen in the background. He should have added that with ThirdPresence this is possible, today.
ThirdPresence is 100% committed to deploying HTML5 compatible video solutions for all devices and platforms that are able to benefit from this new technology.
